The Women’s Press Club of New York State is an organization of professionals in communications careers. Our members include journalists, freelance writers, editors, and public relations professionals across all media. While the club was originally formed in response to barriers women faced in our industry, we now welcome communications professionals of both genders.
The club holds professional development and networking programs throughout the year, and all members receive the our newsletter and a listing in the club directory. At our Annual Dinner, we honor women in the news and the media, and induct pioneering women journalists and communicators into the Hall of Honor, established in 1997.
Programs focusing on contemporary issues in communications are offered regularly throughout the year. We’ve had lively discussions about cameras in the courtrooms, development and use of new media, “tales from the trenches,” and addresses by luminaries including Hall of Honor inductee Barbara Walters.
We support and develop future communicators through our annual Women’s Press Club of New York State Scholarship. Through the years, Women’s Press Club scholarships have helped more than 30 women study communications in colleges across New York State.
